I have a 1997 seadoo xp and the fuel gauge as well as the speedometer aren't working. Now I knew the gas gauge didn't work and figured it was the float. Once I got it in the water I realized the speedo doesn't work either. I was wondering if these two gauges were powered in parallel? Or maybe if someone could give an explanation on one problem that would explain why both the gauges aren't working ? Or is it just two totally different problem. Thanks in advance !

Most likely two different problems. But could be fuse or connection issue. Check those first. Otherwise if the spinning wheel on the rider plate is not broken and spinning freely, the speedometer sensor is commonly the culprit and not worth fixing in most members opinion due to how inaccurate they are. The fuel gauge issue is most likely going to be either a sunken float or blown fuse on the baffle. There are how-Tos on how to fix the baffles on here.

Since both gauges are not functioning check the power lead (+12v.), which is daisy chained, usually a purple wire with a yellow tracer and also the ground wire which is black.
