Hi everyone, this is my first post but I have been gathering information on this great forum for about 6 months now. I have a 97 SPX that had a bad Fuel/Oil gauge. I recently purchased a new one off eBay. I didn’t notice till it arrived that the eBay gauge has a second cable hookup. The original on the SPX has just one. (Which the eBay one has as well). I was wondering if this would be an issue? When I plug in the 7 port cable and press start/stop without key in the oil light turns on but it does not read the fuel? Does the ski have to be running for it to read the Fuel? I have also changed the Fuel float.

Thanks for the help in advance.

I havnt checked that yet. I was hoping it wouldn’t come down to that. (Not great with electrical stuff) looks like I’m going to have

The first image is the SPX OEM gauge and the second image i believe is an older style, but same gauge. Does that second (smaller) cable need to be plugged in for fuel gauge to work? The oil light lights up without it in.

Well, you need to check the fuse. It's the most typical part that fails other than the float. 99% of the time when you pull the baffle to "check" the issue guys check the fuse with a meter and also replace the float while they're in there.

Here you go

You can check it without pulling it. If you put a meter on it and set it to continuity Ω (ohms). It it stays on OL then you can know where you need to go. Then check it again. I want to say it's like 90Ω at either full or empty-----going off my memory.
