97 spx firing issue???

so my spx will run for anywhere from 30 sec to 20 min and then at the chosen point it shuts down and wont start back up again. ive replaced the fuel lines, ski has a new engine, new spark plugs. well this past weekend i put it in the water ran it and began messing up i knew it was firing only on one cylinder. i took the spark plug wire off the front cylinder while it was running and once i did this and had little bit of space between the wire and the spark plug i had full power again and ski was running correctly. does this mean coil is going out, timing problem, ???

It's electrical. I'd just pull everything apart... clean contacts, and put it back together.
