Question.
The two hinges on my rear towrope storage hatch are rusty. I'm assuming someone replaced the original ones. I'm wondering if they were plastic hinges like the front storage hatch.
Can somebody let me know if the originals were stainless, plastic or, like what I have, plated?
Thanks.

Thanks!
Yep. They're plastic and exactly the same. Because they have the same part number. I should of check there first. Sorry.

Now the next question.
I would assume that the last owner replaced the plastic ones because they broke.
Are the plastic hinges known for not holding up well?
I'm thinking of going back to the plastic($8 each) because I'm having problems locating after-market stainless steel ones.
It looks like the floor hatch hinges will fit but OEM want $33 each!

Thanks All!

On 15 to 20 year old boats like ours, they are sure to break sometime soon. If you replace them with plastic ones now I'm sure they will outlast the life of the boat.

I understand about the boat being old and all. What I was concerned about is the durability of the plastic hinge on the rear hatch. That hatch gets easily stepped on frequently getting to and from the swim platform. Seadoo sold, and I have, an anti-skip pad on that hatch. Which just invites people to step on it.
I wasn't sure if the previous owner replaced those hinges after the first year or 10 years in. That's what I was getting at.
Thanks Again All.

you might want to check ebay or internet - plastic hinges are on many a cooler - I don't think they are specific to seadoo. I found some at menards in the camping section - replacement cooler hinges. Much cheaper than BRP -

Also - you can get stainless latches instead of the plastic ones for the hatches - much nicer and cheaper than BRP plastic- and stainless cup holders - dresses up the boat - ebay and amazon

I think I'm going to go the stock route also. I already wasted $8 on a pair of SS hinges from Ebay(China). The two didn't even match!

richie6, How did they look? Was it a substitute? Or just like stock?

Thanks All.

$4 stainless steel hinges? I guess these are over priced.

I received my hinges today. I amazed that that little strip of plastic holds up for so long without breaking. I think I'll use some SS bolts and nylon insert lock nuts to attach them instead of rivets.
Thanks.
