We have a 97 GTX. We hooked up the hose to give it a try. It started right up then my boyfriend pulled the cord the shut it off. Now we can’t get it to start. He did let the water run first and a bit after. I read you’re not supposed to do that. Could that be it? We purchased it a week ago and it started fine at the persons house we bought it off of any ideas? It does seem to want to turn over.

How long did the water run after shut off? You could have water in your engine. If you do, it is imperative that you get the water out and crank the motor immediately. You will also need to run the engine in the lake/water for a little while.

Pull the spark plugs out, put the plug wires on the grounding post and press the start button to crank and see what shoots out of the spark plug holes. If water comes out keep cranking for short spells ( 10 second spells. You don’t want to burn the starter up) until all the water is out.

Then put plugs back in and plug wires back on and see if it will crank.

For running on the hose. Always Start motor 1st, then water on. Water off first, then shut motor off.

Do not run on the hose for more than just a couple of minutes or it could damage carbon ring.

Thank you. We will give that a try. I kept telling my boyfriend that everything I read said do not run water first or after. I appreciate your help.

Guys NEVER read the instructions.

Getting a new BF won't help, it's in our genetics........
Unless they are engineers, I personally enjoy reading instructions and manuals but then again I am weird.
