Hey guys! Ive tried to search this out but without much luck. The search button hates me.

Id just like to know what a proper peak rpm range should or would be for a 1997 seadoo gtx freshly rebuild, completely stock.

My ski is running perfect, and im hitting 6840rpm wide open.

Im just wondering if this is good, and if i put on an aftermarket flame arrestor and some cone filters, can i reach 7000rpm?

Thanks
Tim

According to my manual it says the following for the '97 GTX:

Rev Limiter Verification
To check engine rev limiter, connect an induction
tachometer (P/N 295 000 100), start engine and
check its maximum speed; it should be at 5900 ±
50 RPM for a 717D engine, 7000 ± 50 RPM for a
717 engine, and 7200 ± 50 RPM for a 787 engine.

The GTX has the 787 engine.

I just completed fuel line replacement along with fuel switch, filter(s), and carb cleaning. I also found one of my RAVE valves not operating due to a stripped exhaust piston (plastic cap). With these changes I was at nearly 7000 RPM this weekend on a non-pristine lake. So I believe I will get very close now to the 7200 RPM on smooth water. This was on my 1997 GTX.

I learned after doing a LOT of reading on hear that the RAVE valves should be cleaned each year. This is the first time I have had mine apart since I bought this in 2001. The RAVE will effect your RPMs if they are not opening properly. Check them out.
