Ok guy my cousin's 97 GTi has been bullet proof all summer for him and LAST year.
It just started cutting out at around 40Ish and then immediatly kicks back to WOT but not past 40ish.

We ran some carb cleaner though and and then water tested it and it seemed fine back up to 50ish no issues.

Then the next day out back to the same thing not running well. topping at 40ish.

He had a guy who was a (seedoo tech Laid off.) clean the carb and it ran great out of the water.. when he went to water test it it runs worse than before. Doesn't want to idle hardly and runs like crap.
(I think the guy fixing it might be a bit shady..)

Do you think this is a Carb issue or something else???
Iginition/Spark??

thanks in advance..

Any DIYs on this single carb rebuild it looks easy enough to get off and rebuild? I don't know the the Tech messed with the adjustment screw etc.

anyone know the sequence for the head gasket torque on a 2001 yamaha Gp800R? My brother in law lost compression and I think he may have thrown a ring.

I literally just cleaned my carb on my 1999 GTI. You have the same carb setup and it's fairly easy to do once you figure out removing the throttle cable. You can check the post Carb Cleaning for more info.

If the tech messed with idle screw that could be the problem. Or he might have adjusted the wrong screw because I think there are two others that would cause the same problem.

Anyone have any other ideas suggestions???

Anyone know the stock settings on the carb?
