97 GTI no spark, won't start

Was running fine then quit all of a sudden. Motor is making diff sound. all fuses ok no spark at plug. it will turn over. SOunds like something broke in engine when it stopped ??? HELP

do compression test.

compression is fine

remove mag cover, and fine the broken part.

pulled mag cover didn't see anything. That's about thte limit of my expertise. Put it in the shop hopefully not too costly or I'll bury it

you try, light testing the white wire at coil?
