If it were me I would fix the exhaust leak, Unscrew the plug boots and clip them back 1/4 inch and install a new set of gapped plugs. The exhaust leak could be partially choking your engine. Going full throttle could be pulling in enough air to overcome the exhaust leak. A bad connection in the ignition could create stumbling also. Making sure it has a good clean connection will ensure max burn in the cylinder. Finally, If the plugs are fouled they're not going to be efficient and let unburnt fuel into the exhaust which could lead to backfires which could explain the hole in the rubber coupler.

i have no back firing goin on. i clipped the wires cleaned all connections already. new plugs gapped to spec. etc. ive done all these things. im still leaning towards intake leak. but wht do i know thats why im askin u guys (lol)

i honestly think that the other members are going to tell you that it sounds pretty normal....like i said mine does the same thing....BUT .....last night i reinstalled the carbs that i got back from DR. honda on my 96 xp and now since he cleaned and set them correctly the xp dosent ping like that....i know you said that you cleaned them but maybe it would be worth checking into......

ok ill look into it how many times can i take them apart with the same gaskets? so you dont get the roughness at 1/4 to half throttle anymore?

you can reuse them as many times as they will allow you to...as long as they arent ripped they are ok to reuse.......and no i dont get that miss type ping anymore its smooth now

ok so i pulled the carbs off and cleaned them again. checked the pop off 1 was 30 the other was 42. i wonder if thats the issue?

ok im uploading now

Viper, sounds normal to me thru the video........but you ran it twice on the hose the first time for almost 2 minutes and faster than idle....that is not good for the carbon seal as it's not getting any cooling water around it

good point wasnt thinkin on that one !!!. ill try to get vid in water it gna b a week or so its raining here today and i wont b around next weekend

your pop off is too high on the carb...30 is fine but 42 is out of spec.....set it down to 30...

another thing i noticed while cleaning things up around the motor was a scratched rotary valve . i could see it threw the intake port. i have read that if there are any imperfections in the valve such as scratches . IT SHOULD BE REPLACED. IS THIS TRUE AND COULD THIS BE PART OF THE ISSUE. SORRY I DO NOT BELIEVE THAT THE MOTOR IS RUNNING CORRECTLY IM CHECKIN EVERYTHING.
