If it were me I would fix the exhaust leak, Unscrew the plug boots and clip them back 1/4 inch and install a new set of gapped plugs. The exhaust leak could be partially choking your engine. Going full throttle could be pulling in enough air to overcome the exhaust leak. A bad connection in the ignition could create stumbling also. Making sure it has a good clean connection will ensure max burn in the cylinder. Finally, If the plugs are fouled they're not going to be efficient and let unburnt fuel into the exhaust which could lead to backfires which could explain the hole in the rubber coupler.
