I am back once again....I love this forum!!! I have gotten excellent help and great used parts that are like new for a cheap price!!!!! You guys are a huge help!!! So on my 97 gsi I installed a brand new battery and I am still getting low volt light? I am reading on other threads its the regulator rectifier??? If so is there a way to check or test it? If its not this what could it be and how do I get rid of this low volt? Thanks again!!!!

Did you fully charge the new battery? Also check the battery cable for corrosion. Seems like when I had this happen it was the neg. battery cable, I found a replacement at WalMart, if you ride in the ocean you should go with OEM (if that's the problem). Twist the cable if it crunches it's got internal corrosion.

What Lou said.

1) make sure the battery is charged. (but if it started, it should be good enough)

2) use a volt meter on the battery. Start the engine, and bring it up to 5000 RPM. You should be seeing 13.5 to 14.5 volts. If it's higher or lower... it's time for a regulator. IF... the voltage is OK then either your gauge has gone bad, or the wire going up to the gauge is bad.

around the years 96-99, seadoo set the threshold too low for the low voltage warning to come on. I've seen them come on every time after starting when the battery is fine. if it starts fine and charges fine, don't worry about it.

that's a good point, on my '96 i think the low voltage light comes on every time i start it and my battery and rectifier are fine.

crazy at it seems, my low volt light has been on for about 5 months now...
ski is running perfect tho, so I just ignore the light... probably a bad idea, but since it was about 45 engine hours ago i figured i'm ok :)

My 12 volt low indicator has been on for months. Came on within a month or so of having water get inside the hull. Checking the voltage when running it seemed to be charging. A few months ago after running at top speed for about 15min the engine stalled and would not start. Acted like the battery was discharged, had to be towed in. After some effort I managed to get the engine started and flushed and after replacing the starter managed to take it out a few times without any issues. Now again this past weekend after running full speed for a few minutes the rpms declined and the engine gradually died and would not start like the battery was drained again. Now I have replaced the battery with a new one and changed the plugs and have difficulty getting it started and have to hold the throttle up to get it to stay running. If I slowly relax the throttle it will idle very rough and almost die. I think this 12 volt low is linked to an electrical problem of some sort. I suspect it could be the cables, harness, rectifier, or stator. Sometimes the lanyard beeps when pluged in and sometimes it doesn't beep at all even though the LCD display comes on.
