I have 97 gsi wet jet no power no beeps when I put the lanyard on and start stop switch doesn't do nothing cranks when I jump soilnoid any ideas

Check your fuses on your mpem and in your rear ebox. Also could be a bad dess post or start stop button. Worst case scenario is your mpem is fried. Have you jump started your ski ? Also check and clean all your grounds. Just worked on a ski that would turn over if you jumped the solenoid but not off the key. Cleaned the main ground and it came to life. Check all your connectors.

Missed the wet jet part of your post. Is there such a thing as a Gsi 717 wet jet?

Hat is the dess post ?

The dess post is the black knob with a silver ring around it. I also have a 97 gsi. My vts switch wire was broken inside the handle. I kept popping that 5 amp fuse. So I unplugged the vts all together.

However, if you aren't getting any gauges to light up at all, check fuses first on the mpem. you might as well not worry about it starting if the electrical is messed up. Get a flash light and check all the wires for any bite marks from mice or anything. Like mwat65 said above if you jumped it, you might have burned your mpem, but I would check fuses first. Wires next (especially at the switches), check the vts for water damage that could be blowing more fuses.

One more important thing to check first, a dead battery will give you a bad day. If the battery is too low or can't carry a load. It will shut everything off. Gsi are weird like that.

When I first got into it the top five amp fuse was blown in the front has brand new battery cleaned up the kill switch cleaned every ground I could find still no power

Did you check the fuse in the rear electrical box ? Check the 5 amp again . It may have blown the new fuse. It sounds like you may need an mpem. We need more info. Was this ski running previously ? Did the gauges work previously ? Have you jump started this ski ? Do you hear any thing at all when you hit the start button , a click from the rear box. Jump the solenoid in the rear box with a screwdriver to verify that the solenoid and starter are working.

Also he can check to unplug the stator connection to see if he keeps popping the 5a.

Worst case he can check

Mpem repair '97 GS/GTI

And to test mpem outside of ski
Non-Wired MPEM Ignition Module 5A Test

Metal shavings on your stator from the starter will also cause that 5 amp to keep blowing if it has blown the new fuse, Also unplug the trim in the back of the ski like lordoakley said. Hopefully your mpem is not fried.

lol, agreed. These gs/gsi aren't too complicated. if he didn't jump from a running car etc.. I would lean towards a non mpem issue. Unplugging things one by one can eliminate most issues to narrow it down. dang vts caused my issues of 5a blowing. I had tore into the mpem/diode to find out mine tested good. I would stock up on 5a fuses while testing tho... And don't ever put in a higher fuse as that will 100 percent fry a perfectly good mpem.

I have just got the ski don't know if they were ever jump started I actually have two gsi and have the same problem with both they never cranked when I got them the guy I got them said they ran good the year prior to me getting them is there a way I can use a jumper wire on the dess post plug in

Are you sure your using the right key for each one. No you can’t jumper the dess. Make sure your plugging the key all the way on.
