This one they wrap a hood

I was trying to find one I saw a while back where 2 guys wrap a complete audi, and they also wrapped a gsxr. I think the video was out of the neatherlands. I saw it a while back because I had the same idea you had about wrapping hoods, i cant remember how I found it. Some of those wraps look real good, but they have alot of different kinds. Are you planning on using the 3m stuff?

Not sure what brand I'm going to use. Lots of places sell the 3M and other brands as well. Obviously the 3M stuff is amazing, but so is the price tag. I want to be into it for less then paint if you know what I mean. I'd just as well paint it. I know a guy who used the 3M Scotchprint and it looked awesome, now they have the DI-NOC stuff that is amazing but very expensive. To do the hood you need a piece 3' X 3' just for the top half, then a 2'X'3' for the bottom half. I could cheap out and just paint the under side but why not go all the way. I'm going to order some samples and check the quality of the stuff first, then go from there.

I called BRP directly at 715-848-2520. After listening to the recordings, and one of the options eventually was recalls, I gave the fellow my HIN and he verified mine had been replaced in 1998. I also have a 96 GTI he checked on for me as well. It had been replaced too.

You have the wrong number up. It is 715-848-4957.

I think you were on brp's site and used the end of the media relations phone number 651.755.2520

Time for a VISUAL update. I finally got my carbon fiber samples and decided to try it out. This is my first experience ever in doing anything like this. It turned out pretty decent. Good from far, but far from good if you know what I mean. Anyway, I ordered samples of 3M Di-NOC, 3M Scotchprint and house brand from Metrorestyling.com. I like the thickness of the 3M product, but personally I think the pattern and depth of perception looked like blah. I'm buying on appearance only and I liked the size of the "carbon fiber" of the house brand, the 3M just seemed a tad to big. So anywho, off to the pics! Also teasers in the pics.

Dang! That looks great! I hope to get back to working on my ski soon. Haven't forgot about ya either. Been outta town and working like a dog otherwise. If I'm not working at my day job I'm detailing someone's car at night and weekends.

Sweet and sexy! I like the cut turf for the ankles to.

Yep, you win that's the teaser. I PM'd Spim the other day/week about using his idea. I vaguely remember racking my cankles on my 96's back in the day. I totally remember my head meeting the rail down the deck once while fully wicked and caught a rogue wake, yeah I actually thought I was done--like done done.

Thanks Suke.

Hey, no worries. I'm already counting the day until April, meh maybe sooner.

I'm building this to keep without a doubt, my son said he wanted to ride on a Seadoo so I bought this a week later, I already had an 89 SP and an 91 XP. That was just my excuse to get a 96 again. The prices up here that guys "ASK" for 96 XP's is redonkulous, so that is why I set out to build a 96 XP, ALL FRESH and ALL OEM

What happened to that, racer? Lol the ski looks great tho!

What, it's all fresh and all oem. But the looks department, yeah I sorta jumped out of the window. Well, I didn't really jump, it's the damn X-4 junkies on here pushing their bad doings on minds teetering on the edge of self destruction. They all post in the X-4 thread, build race skis, sell parts, pimp skis, flip skis, you know the X-4 degenerates I'm talking about.

Yeah pretty much this place hit the vein when I got my XP and I just couldn't stop. Thanks guys!

What do you think it would cost to do a 96 spx hood? Would look sick.

I have it priced with 94 primer for the edges, some squeegees and enough film to do the top and bottom separately, the rear hatch on my HX and some extra for around $80?? IIRC

Did you use the M series? From Metrorestyling.com? I wouldn't know how much to order for my SPX hood, then I would seek someone out to do the job, because it looks differcult to do.

I used a piece of tig wire to measure what I needed so I could arc over the radius of the hood and provided an inch of wrap around. You need a piece like 36" X 26" so you get bumped to 36" square. I was buying a piece 48" X 72" to do both side and the HX hatch and some extras.

Just wrapped the fuel selector trim ring, turned out pretty sweet. My kids better watch out, they might wake up carbon fiber'd by sun up!

Doesn't look bad decent price too. Sorry about the 36 sq. I should have said you needed to go to a 36" X 48", which is why I spec'd out a 48"X 72" piece. My bad. The color choice is what locks me in, the gray pricing is no different online or thru Ebay. I also called these guys and asked a few questions and they seemed pretty cool.

that looks fantastic !

and i love love love (and once more for good measure, love) the carbon fiber on the vents... so now its time for ME to ask... "permission to steal your idea ? "

Thanks for the compliments and by all means YES you may!

I will say that the lowest vents do not get full coverage to the "inside". The length of the opening that you cut is shorter than the depth of the lower part. It doesn't bother me cause you really need to look for it. If you want me to post any other detailed pics let me know, I also have no idea how well this stuff if going to hold up. I think it really should have been primed since the surface is a tad porous. But it was only $5 for a 12 X 24 piece to do both vents, the selector trim and still have a scrap piece. And the shipping was $2.10 to me. So for $7--it's a hot upgrade.

I used the 3M sample and wrapped my cordless phone this morning---it turned out like azz.

i have something you need to finish that...well, maybe, you might not like the idea.. but a billet switch on that would be nice..
(and I have spares I can send you one cheap)

how do you think a billet switch would look inside that CF ? $12 shipped...

I have two sets of those yellow covers in mint shape along with black, red, blue...lol I also have the blank trim piece for the info buttons to delete those.

Its a VERY good replacement...they dont get gummy or moldy. I am also interested in what it takes to get it all installed clean/correct.

I think this one is a clean correct version.

This was the first one we did and it was almost a perfect fit, we have now worked out the bugs. I am shocked I never saw anyone else on the forum try this. I domt think I would have thought of it if i didnt have a 96 gtx steering stem sitting next to a 95xp steering stem.

Dan they also make my grips with grey where my yellow is. They have a light gret and a dark grey. $17.99 on ebay. If you look at the grips you can see the spacer i made between the grips and throttle housing. I can send you a piece of rubber tubing so you can make your own if you go that route.

I'll have to wait and see, I just put a set of NOS black grips I've been hoarding for years now. But those do look real nice and the gray would be a nice touch.
