I have a 96XP. Ski has been running great for all its life. Yesterday, I had a new electrical problem. First, I had to put the key on and off a couple of times to power on. But then, it seemed to be fine. The second time I went to restart after the key issue nothing, just dead in the water.

I tried putting the key on and off, but no luck. The strange part is that I also have nothing on the 20 second timer if I hit the start button with the key disconnected. I went through all connections, fuses and grounds and battery. All seems fine there. The ski is stored indoors, and the electrical connections really are very clean and protected with electrical lube.

I have read some posts on this forum which make me lean toward the post being frozen. But, why do I have nothing at all at the switch with the key off. It should give me the 20 seconds to check gauges, etc. but nothing.

Any assistance from anyone would really help save my holiday weekend.

Thanks!

Battery ?

Try disconnecting the battery for about 5 mins. and then reconnect the battery. The MPEM might reset itself.

hit the start botton 5 times with the lanyard off and start self diagnosis and reinstall the lanyard and you should not have any beeps hit the start botton and it should start or crank. if it beeps drop me a pm.

No luck

Well, tried the battery disconnect/reconnect and then the 5 times on the start switch. Absolutely nothing. As far as reaction from the start/kill switch goes, the battery may as well be disconnected. Seems like there should be an obvious trail to the source of the problem. But, I have learned the expensive way about random testing of the MPEM.

If you have any good directions on a next step, I would really appreciate it. Meanwhile, I am going to dig deeper on the ground/open search.

Thanks, again!
