96 XP Engine Only Rotates 1/4 Turn......See Video & Pics

Rode Seadoo last weekend, ran great, went to restart and 'clunk'. Engine would not turn over. To make long story short..... Pulled plugs, pump, starter, both rave valves, and mag cover. Crank will only rotate back and forth about 1/4 turn so it's not locked or have any logical reason to be. WTF????
Could the rotary valve and or gear cause this??? Anyone seen this before, losing my mind here!!

Pull the engine and tear it down. The cause will be obvious. Post some pictures. Time for a rebuild.

There is evidence of water in the mag cover. If the bearings on the crank and counter balancer have seen that same moister then one of them may have failed. The engine was probably submerged at one point.
 
I got similar issue, the issue was bearing pump ....she was seized because the seal water been defect...
 
What makes you think it's time for a rebuild?? That's ludicrous!!

23 years of experience being a PWC mechanic. Something is wrong inside and the only one who can tell us what is you. Take it apart already. You have a broken piston or a failed con-rod bearing or a failed rotary valve/shaft or a...

Thanks for all of the input yall. Sorry Chester, but your first response was very vague. I was/am hoping to avoid anymore unnecessary actions than required. No hard feelings....
 
Ok, since originally posting I've had time to investigate further into my engine problem and felt like I owe it to the forum to post my results after asking for help. I stated that I had removed the raves in order to find out why the engine wouldn't rotate fully. Actually, I did not 'remove' them I pulled the cover and bellows and held them in the open position while trying to rotate engine. So, since my last post here are the pics of what I found upon disassembling further. Question now is why did the rave break like this? Stock bore, NEW valve from OSD with less than 30-40hrs. Anyways, thanks everyone. Now I'm deciding what to do with this $$$$ sucking machine!

Engine rebuilt without cutting the Raves down?? How are you sure it was stock bore?
