Well, trying to wake up all my machines for the spring to get em ready. The GSX with the new engine seems to be behaving so far. The GTX fired right up. XP? eh, won't start. Killed 4 batteries (switch out, charge, rinse and repeat).

I keep pulling the plugs and it appears to keep getting flooded. I might have sprayed too much bombarier lube down there when winterizing or maybe the carbs were leaking fuel into the case while sitting. not sure. I have tested spark by grounding the plugs to the head and cranking, switched plugs, etc.

Is there any way to get this thing cleaned out enough to get a good fire? It does not seem to spit anything out when cranking with the plugs out. Almost seems like it needs the compression to draw the liquid out of the case. As I have mentioned with previous posts, I really hate to use starting fluid.

I need to pull the carbs at one point anyway I am sure, it still has the gray lines and probably has screwed something up with the carbs.

Thanks for any advice.

When you pull the plugs... are they oily? It's probably oil leaking past the center crank seals. It's not a huge problem, but it will make it hard to start after it's been sitting for long periods of time. (and it will smoke like crazy for a while)

Try this.... Get some new plugs, hook them to the spark wires, and make sure you have a good spark. If you do... spray some starter fluid directly into each spark plug hole, and put the plugs back in. (quickly) also, give it a shot into the airbox. That should get you enough fire to get the oil to clear out.

Normally, I don't recommend starter fluid... but there is so much oil down in the engine... it shouldn't be a problem.

Thanks doc, ya they are drenched with black liquid so I am sure it's either gas and oil or mainly oil. (didn't think of the crank seals leaking oil in) so that makes sense. I smell them and they don't smell much like fuel either. I was afraid I might be stuck doing he starting fluid thing. But like you said if there is already a ton of oil there it should be fine. I will give it a whirl and let you know what happens.

Thanks again
