My 96 XP-800 won't start. 140psi comp. in both cyl. I removed the spark plugs and I have a very weak spark but the motor won't fire even with starting fluid.

One other note, the fuel tank is 3/4 full but the gauge shows it is empty and the fuel light is on. The battery light is also on.

Battery charged or new...mainly hot?

Maybe remove spark plug boots and clip wires back 1/4 inch. Re-install boots and new plugs. BR8ES

Remove the plug cap boots and cut about 1/4 inch off the ends. Put back on securely, zip tie them, dielectric grease them. Check spark by grrounding the
connected plug to a cleaned head bolt.

Only use a squirter with pre-mix gas & injection oil to prime a two-stroke.

You may have metal particle interference in the stator, you'd need to loosen the front mount, open the cover to get in there to vacumn them out. Usually bits
are broken off of the ring teeth or starter.

On top of fuel tank is the fuel bafel (four fuel line) and electric from the PC sender
card inside. Disconnect the plug, and on the wireing harness loom side, jumper the
two pins, and then without the saftety lanyard connected, press the start button.
If gauge goes to full, the bafel card is fault. If not going full, gauge is bad.

The light comes on when key is attached, and will go off once engine runs on its own power.

trimmed the plug wires, no help.

installed new battery, no help.

I opened the black box (holds the coil & starter solenoid) and found 2-inches of water in the bottom. The ground wire and 3 other wires are connected to the bottom coil mount and they were all rusty. Cleaned everything and covered wires in di-electric grease and it's up and running!!!
