My new boat has a modification that I guess I did not understand when I bought, so if anyone could help that would be great.

In 2009 the owner had to put in a rebuilt engine as the prior one blew due to insufficient oil being injected. He said he modified the engine so that I premix amsoil hp injector with the gas at 50:1. He did not want to trust an oil injector going forward.

The part I dont get is there is a container he made and attached that contains full amsoil injector oil, and this appears to go into the engine too? It has a tee at the bottom of it where there are two lines running from it to what appears to be the engine.

Could somebody explain what he did, and most importantly, what the purpose of the separate oil container is? I just dont understand why it is needed if I premix oil and the gas.

thanks

When you block off the oil injection you still need to lubricate the rotary valve gear. It's drip lubrication similar to a 1909 Maxwell (just kidding) but the Maxwell did have drip lubrication. Anyway that line to the rotary valve gear needs to be left on. You shouldn't need to ever add any oil to the tank.
