Hello I am new to this site and wanted to know if any one may have an answer to my problem. I have a 96 sportster that I forgot to add fuel stabelizer too after last summer. I drained out the old gas and added fresh gas and after finally getting it started, it has a constant beep while ideling. it idels ok but boggs down after throttle is applied. it seems to have no power past mid throttle position and makes the motor shake. The beep starts just after the motor cranks over and does not stop. It ran great last year after I installed a new impellor. I am trying to get this thing running to head out to the lake, Any ideas on what to look for?:ack:

My manual for the challenger says a constant beep is an engine overheat sensor, not sure if its the same on your model but just a thought. Might be careful driving it to much til ur for sure.

Yes... the beeping is overheat... but if it's doing as soon as you start the engine... the sender may have gone bad. If it starts beeping after a minute or so... then you are overheating our engine.

Depending on the situation above... the carbs need to come apart. New fuels attract water. Without any stabilizer... that water will sit in the carbs, and rust them up. You probably need to do a full rebuild on them.

Thanks for the info

I will try cleaning out the carbs and replacing the temp sensor to see if that solves my problem. Hopefully it does so I can get back on the water. Thanks for the help.:)
