Hey guys first post here. Picked up a 96 SPI, also have a 94 sport jet 90. Question about an MMO soak wondering if anyone has experienced similar in the past tinkering with things.

Picked up a 96 SPI that wasn't running all that great. Previous owner didn't notice the oil injection spring was detached. Rebuilt the carb, adjusted oil, ran like a champ. Was measuring about 125PSI per cylinder with the cheapest gauge known to mankind. Did an MMO soak in attempt to remove some carbon, removed excess oil, ran for a while, swapped new spark plugs, cut back 1/4" on the lines.

Haven't taken it on the water yet because I'm still adjusting the carb after the rebuild. After the soak she doesn't want to idle unless choked. I'm covering the arrestor/intake with a tshirt otherwise it'll stall. I'm thinking it needs WOT for a while to remove the MMO yet. Wondering if anyone has run into similar. The adjustment on the low speed screw is way too much to keep it running right now. Probably at 2 1/2 - 3 turns.

I'm also guilty of buying a cheap rebuild kit.. Not purposely actually bought the 30 dollar kit with needle and seat. After reading some of the stuff on here going to purchase genuine gaskets and report back.
