I have 96 speedster and noticed a rattle on the drivers side while starting and idling. It doesn't sound like it is coming from engine compartment, but rather from the back of the boat.Any comments will help. Thanks
if it rattles when out of the water, and not in it -- its the "seadoo rattle " wich is no more than a normal pump rattle, or should say a driveline rattle, cause water is needed to hold everything tight, now if it happens in water, u should check, driveshaft, pump, wear ring, etc, also as a normal maintance thing is put a pump or 2 of grease in pto, u should after every 5 uses or so, dont over grease it though, just a pump or 2
I agree with griz400. I'ts normal impeller rattle that virtually all PWC's have. There's always some looseness in the impeller/driveshaft splines. If it seems to be more prominent on one than it is on the other, you might have worn out splines. Remove that pump and check to see if the rubber bumper is still on the end of the driveshaft. If this bumper is missing, the splines on the driveshaft and on the impeller will wear out fast.
