Wow on the lake one engine quit ...No spark
all fuses good..any suggestions...
i checked with a local mec.
he said it could be the ecu?
HELP!
,:blush:,

Could be. Its hard to say until you do some trouble shooting. BUT... MPEM's don't normally die for no reason. I would be more willing to think it was a loose wire, a CDI or a mag coil.

The rectifier isn't going to be the problem. The ignition on the 720 engine is self contained and simple.

There is a pulser coil in the MAG. one wire comes from it to the CDI/ignition coil. (one unit) Some where on that wire, there is a wire going to the MPEM that is used to kill the engine, and act as the rev-limiter.

If you disconnect that wire... all it can be is the MAG coil, or the CDI. BTW... if you disconnect that wire... it can't be the MPEM.

I would swap the CDI/ignition coils, and see what happens.

:hurray::confused:
Looks like the mag
:)the good mag reads 50 ohms
and the bad one is open?
Looks like the problem
