96 seadoo xp...no power

Hey everybody..I have a 96 seadoo xp..Ive rode it bout 5 timestimes and no problems since I've bought it..and I was riding today for bout ten minutes and I took off got bout half speed and shut off..and no power now..all fuses r good..any ideas?

Check that the connectors are pushed together. Could be loose ground got shook.

96 xp

I have a 96 xp and last year we experienced a power problem but got back to the ramp, loaded it on the trailer, and couldn't get it to fire this year. I called a repair shop to discuss it, but the first thing he wanted to do was replace all gray (tempo) fuel lines, clean carbs and expected it to run then' at a cost of $500. We replaced the fuel lines ourselves, after reading about them on this forum. It still won't start, so I tried a tip from SF and put a little gas in each piston (1/2 teaspoon) and it fired up for a second. At this point I need help too, but I know its fuel.

Thanks for the reply..but u had no power at all..no gauges or nothing..that doesn't sound sound like a fuel line..I'm losing power somewhere..

If you lost gauges and everything, it could be a loose wire, but also, just a bad connection at the DESS lanyard. I have had it happen several times on my 96 and 97 machines. Sometimes, a good soapy water bath on both pieces will do wonders...

The one time it happened on my boat, I spent an hour looking at fuses, wires, etc. Then the wife just put the lanyard on and twisted it and it beeped and started right up. :ack:
