I have a 96 HX and it is idling like wide open. If it is cold it will idle for just a minute correctly, then it just starts to continously get faster like you're giving it gas. Then everytime I start it it will idle very hi. I can choke it and get the rpm's down. I took the carbs off and found a bad gasket between the carbs and the intake. I replaced both gaskets, but I'm still getting the same thing.

HELP PLS :ack:

You will need soapy water to squirt around the fuel filter/separator, cases, manifold,
RV cover to find the other leaks that are the cause of the lean condition/runaway.

OK so I mix up some soapy water, crank it and spray it in the different places listening for a change in the RPM's right? Can I do this with the choke pulled out or should i let it run wide open? I'm just afraid of it running such hi rpm's out of water.

Remove the airbox & flame arrestor so you can see, have a towel to hold on carb
if she startes to get away if you are starting it, or you could not start, and use
your garden air compressor with an air chuck set to low psi and put rag in carb,
put air into the cases thru the pulse line to pressureize, then look for bubbles.
rock the PTO shaft to move pistons up & down. Soapy water usually works.

Instead of drawing soapy water into your engine I would use a cloth soaked in kerosene, but first make sure the throttle works properly on each carb then both, try and wipe the cloth around the rotary valve cover, it seems you have an air leak and the carb area is the most common place for this to occur.
