I took my Seadoo to the shop just to get ready for riding season. Get it back it starts right up and i take it out on the lake. The big exhaust hose came most of the way off and water was pouring in. I'm heading back to the launch before it stops and sinks. On the way back about 100yrds it starts dieing and smoking from the water in the ski. Then I start it back up a few seconds later and get to the launch and pull it out of the water with the trailer. Of course it is almost filled with water. I looked inside the where the solenoid was and it too was filled with water. After I get back to the house I get the water out of the box with the solenoid. Now it will not start. I put the key on 3 beeps. Then solenoid just buzzs. So i replace the solenoid, and now it just makes a thud noise from the starter. I held the button down for a few seconds and the ground wire going to the fully charged battery starts smoking. The wire feels warm to the touch. What is wrong with this thing?

It sounds like it is going to try to start the motor, but it makes the clink sound. The engine just doesnt turn over.

was ur starter under water...it is on the bottom of the motor on the left side if ur sitting on the doo... it sounds like it got submugred, fried, then when you hold the start button down its sticking and drawing a heavy charge... making the wire warm/hot... no bueno, try tapping it a few times kinda medium hard then crankin it... but dont steady hold the start if it's not goin

just give it a few love taps while it's in the boat... sometimes it will unsieze it, sometimes it wont... but if you tap, tap, tap it and it cranks, you may have to get a new starter... but i say dont hold down the button because you could overload it and lead to other problems!

how much water got in that bad boy. how did the pipe come off? i got the same rides just 97 and mine are gettin thin thinkin about replacing them!

If i would have been any further out it would have sunk cause I had to jump off and swim a little ways so it wouldnt sink. It was pretty much full of water.

holy moly.... did somebody forget to tighten the rubber exhaust pipe???? wow that sucks, did you try the starter trick? any luck?

i would say its the starter and if your going to take it out you might as well replace their are a royal pain to try to get put in place.

yep... i got lucky and did mine with the carb's off!!! did you intake any water into the motor??/ i would take the spark plugs out first and try to stroke the motor first thing after you get the starter done!

Tried the trick didnt work. Put the new starter on and turned it over without plugs in and blows out muddy water. plugs in and it will not turn over. what now?
