96 GTX Surges

Comes out of the hole fine, pulls up to 7000. Then starts surging 5000 rpm to 6000 rpm with throtle wide open. About half throtle it comes out of it. the longer I ride it the the worse it gets. Is this a fuel pump problem or carb problem. thax

Yes, it sounds like a fuel related problem. Give teh carbs a good cleaning.
