ok, any ideas on what wrong, and how to fix it? Let me just say, my first ski, never serviced or fixed anything on it. So try and keep it simple if possible. Along with thatproblem, the throttle cable has a problem in that it is loose, and doesnt let up if you squeeze the throttle. If i manually pull the throttle back in the engine, it does work to pull it/

Not a lot of info there but what I gather, your carbs at idle, then when you pull the throttle, they'll go to wide open but will not close. If this is correct, then you have a bushing that is seizing up on your carb, typically the Magneto carb.
As for the fuel usage? Do you smell fuel vapor in your engine compartment? Do you notice any fuel leaks? If the diaphragm in your fuel pump is busted, the fuel will drain into your crankcase by gravity.
Really not a lot to go on there. Add a little info, maybe we can figure something out.............:cheers:

Check and see if it has toyota engine, OK really snipe has the best idea to see if it is a cable or throttle shaft bushing sticking - mazda engine maybe but not toyota, read here about the 2stroke examination of compression test, fuel/oil/water leaks and the fuel starving from any place air can come into the fuel, these problems will drive ya nuts until you read more on here.
