96 GTX Power Cutoff

I just had the carbs rebuilt on my GTX. It has a 787... My problem today was once up to speed for a couple of minutes it basically cutout. It still was able to idle but no power. I idled back to ramp and then tried giving it gas and it took off....

Makes me think that it got overheated possibly? Maybe not getting enough oil injected??

The guy that worked on took one of my gas line filters and put in onto the oil line. I am THINKING that maybe that is restricting the flow??

I am going to pull the filter and test....

How do I know if I am getting enough oil??? Maybe by getting this symptom??

Thanks in advance

Sounds like you have an inline gas filter and not the stock fuel separator/strainer that is in front under the cowl. Maybe you have both. The inline fuel filters should be removed because they can cause too much restriction and cut off fuel flow. Also there is a specific filter for the oil feed system that is not as restrictive as an inline gas filter and you should use that.
By the description of your symptom it sounds like the check valve that lets air into the gas tank is blocked and needs to be cleaned or replaced. A vacuum will develop as you ride and use gas and then not let fuel flow to the carbs. Try riding with the gas cap loose so air can get into the tank and see if the symptom disappears.

Thank you for the feedback! I will ride again on Thursday. I am removing the fuel filter that was put on the oil line tomorrow. Maybe test first and if the problem persists I will loosen the fuel cap. Thanks again!!
