96 GSX Power Loss at Wide Open throttle

My 1996 GSX rpm's surge and drop about 800 (rpm's) when cruising at wide open throttle(roughly 6100 RPM). Obviously resulting in a brief power loss for a second or two. It will then go back to 6100 rpm's and will do the same thing. At 5300-5400 rpms the watercraft runs perfectly fine. Any thoughts on what the cause could be? I appreciate any ideas you may have. Thanks....

possible RAVE problem? See if cleaning them helps

Try switching the fuel selecor to "reserve" and see if it still does it. Mine did the exact same thing and it turned out to be a restricion in the "on" fuel line

If it does turn out to be the selector.. take it apart and clean it with carb cleaner

Thanks. I picked up gaskets tonight so I'll take apart the rave tomorrow and clean it. If that doesn't fix it, I'll already be on the water so I'll mess with the selector switch. Thanks for your advise and I'll keep you posted. Mike
