Hello. So I bought this jet boat about a month ago. I have had it out twice and ran great. When I bought it, it had gas/oil in it and that's what I ran it off of the first two times I took it out. So on Wednesday I took it to my local Seadoo dealer and he did a tune up and compression test. He said everything was great and actually was very impressed with my 180psi! I know that he changed my plugs and I check those and they are exact spec to the manual. So.....here is the situation, I started it yesterday before I dropped it and it started right up. Then put it in the water and it started fine again, but as I was making my way to the dock the beep came on constant. I killed the boat immediately, I remembered that that was the overheat sound (remember the boats been running for about 2 minutes). So then floated over to the dock and hasn't started since. I just had put in 20 gal of 91 octane in it and I'm lost. I pulled the plugs and let it sit overnight and started it this morning and still nothing. HELP! Thanks in advance!

what yuo mean, NUTHING? It wont fire up now? or fires up, and "beep" still there?

You check the fuses...my boat did that, and found that its the "broken" baffle/sending unit. Always read'n empty, so disconnected it, and its fine.

Do you get the 2x beeps (beep, beep) If not then it might be the key. I spoke with my dealship here and they informed the ground wire in the key sometimes gets loose and it takes a few time to get the boat started. I have had my key not work for a day sometimes. Did the dealer unplug the battery or is the battery fully charged also check that. I had to replace my battery this year. Just because you blower and pump work doesn't mean the battery is fully charged. The constant or long audible sound, that sounds like the over heat sensor. Mine went out on my boat and everytime I put the key on the post it would sound, so I replace those and no more loud sound, and the boat runs great.

Yep getting the two beeps as normal. Try to fire and it cranks and sound normal but never actually starts. I pulled the plugs and used some fogging oil on the cylinders and plugs and still just cranks. Power is good on battery. There is nothing obstructin the impeller from the grate side. Could something be on the stern side of the impeller cause it to not start? Also wondering if maybe there is too much oil being injected? Is there an adjustment?

Thanks for all the help guys! :hurray:

Not sure what the baffle sending unit is. :(

OK heading back to the lake in a minute I will try that next. Thanks again. I will reply as soon as I try it.

Ok so tried to see a spark. I can't. The gap is so small that I can't see it. I wonder if the Seadoo mechanic didnt gap then correctly?!?! That would be sweet if it was that easy! Im gonna try that next! I keep everyone posted within an hour. Thanks a million!

I know this might sound silly but be sure your fuel switch/es are in the on position..I thought I had mine off when I had brought it to the launch when I popped hatch & turned them on in water..Well it started then died right away..lol took a few seconds to realize what I did they were already on & I turned them off

I tried the fuel switch in all the positions. No luck. I just let it sit all weekend as seemed like a million boats passed me by. I'm outta ideas, and she's going back the mechanic on Tuesday. Thanks for all the replys and time spent helping me out.

Have a great rest of the weekend!

Mechanic....?

hmmmm, the same one? It seems the boat was good until you took it in to THAT mechanic.

If you ran hot in 2 minutes, sounds like your water inlet from your pump to the motor was pinched. If your looking at your engine from behind, it's the black rubber line on the left side of the engine head. You can trace it out and see if it's got some kind of valve or obstruction.

It just doesn't seem right that you had this all happen as soon as you brought it home from the shop.......

Did you put it on a flush hose? Hook up the water and turn it on. Do not leave it run for anymore than 10 seconds without the engine running. But, by then, you should at least see water come from your pump as it drains from the engine..........

When you started and was heading over to the dock, did you have thrust from the pump?

BTW, the manual recommends you run 87 octane fuel. The premium fuels are to hot for your motor.........

I will check that inlet. I looked at all the outlets from the back of the boat and they looked OK. I will check from the inside the bay. I actually only put premium because the same seadoo mechanic told me to do so.

As far as how I was starting..... by the book. Start it dry out of the water before dropping it for just a few seconds to make sure it will start. Then put it in the water started right up and after 1.5-2 minutes constant beep. I did have some thrust because I was making my way to the dock. Of course it's no wake so i was just babying it over there....so its kinda hard to say how much thrust. Then pulled the key. Tried to start and it only would crank. So floated back to the ramp and loaded back up on the trailer.

After letting it sit I tried to start out of the water and would only crank. I actually then tried it for the last two day periodically. Still only cranks.

Thanks for the reply and I will check that out. :hurray:

Hello.

Just wanted to give everyone an update. The problem all along was the temp sensor on the motor. I replaced that and everything is perfect.

Thanks for all the help and I hope to return the favor. :)

Happy "Doo-ing":hurray:
