I bought a 95 xp last month and have had trouble strating the ski.The only way I can start the ski is to remove a spark plug.
Once the ski is started if I try to replace the plug the ski stalls. There seems to be water blowing out of the spark plug hole if the plug is not replaced. the ski will run quite happily as long as I do not try to replace the plug. I can rev the engine and the engine is responsive.
Have I just blown a head gasket, or is it something worse. Where should I start? to start eliminateing the causes. Cheers Gary

that water blow'n out, is probably raw fuel. Keep the plug away from it.

Remove both plugs, and do compression test.

I Took the spark plugs out and started ski, sent water through the cooling jacket and more water comes out of the Spark plug holes, I agree that some of the emmissions from the Spark plug holes will be fuel, but most of it is water, the more water I put through the jacket the more the water comes out of the holes.I will try a compression test next, and then start to strip the motor down from the top. Thanks

if u find out that you are not getting/holding compression in both cylinders be sure to make sure that you have not warped your head as I did when my motor got hot. I had the same problem with my ski, did a top end rebuild, only to find that I hadn't solved the problem. I then had my head looked at and some simple machining was needed to get back to a flat surface and that solved my problem. Ski runs like new. Good Luck!
