Long story short, I bought this Seadoo last month for pretty darn cheap. It is a clean hull and came with two 587 engines. Neither running. Looked up 94 XP and it shown that the proper engine is a 687. So my question is, can toss a 587 into the 94 XP hull? Will everything hook up correctly electronics wise?

I don't mind being down on power as this is my first ski. I recently bought another one from a buddy at work that is river ready so I would like to get this one going as well so the woman and I could ride together.

Huge pita for less performance, you could find an old sp or spi with a bad motor to put the 587 into.

The 94XP used the 657X and those do have different electronics then the 587. You could use the rest of the 587 electronics if you have them laying around or swap the flywheel and stator in the 587 to match the electronics in the 94XP hull. Now we are getting into the pita he was talking about.

There are other issues as well...the cables won't fit(choke or throttle), the impeller in the 94 pump is too tall for the 587 to pull, and they use different exhaust pipes that have hoses needed or not used.

That about sums it up then. I wasn't sure. Thanks much for the responses. I'll try to sell the two 587s I have and see if I can get a 657 put together. Thanks again.

657X that is. The 657 is a completely different engine so be careful because that's easy to confuse.

Gotcha, thanks again. After talking to my buddy who knows more than I do, also a member on here; I'm going to just sell everything and try again. Trying to piece together an entire engine front to back seems like much more work and cost than I can do at this point. Anybody need a clean xp hull? Haha.
