Hello and thanks in advance for you advice.

I have a 94 XP Seadoo 650 with VTS System.

The VTS works and I of course always start out trimmed down.

When I first bought the seadoo about a month ago it would come right up out of the hole and fly.

The second time I ran it it would start to come up out of the hole but at 5 grand it jumped up to 7 grand and drop back down. So I went back to the boat ramp tipped it on its side to see if I had anything in my grate, it was clear. Started it up and took off fine.

Well ever sense that day, it starts to take off but at 5 grand it will drop back down in the water and the RPMs jump to 7 grand. To get it to plain out, I have to slowly advance my throttle, then once it plains I trim up and I'm good to go until I set back down in the water.

I have ran carb cleaner thru it etc. Any help is appreciated.

@ Seadoo Ya - It doesn't sound carb related to me, just that I have to ease on it. Revs fine and once I get it out of the hole she flys. I'm a Luitenant on my local Water Rescue Dept, so I have to know a little about my boats and engines. But it is still a possibility. But it doesn't bog down or anything.

@ Dr Honda - Those could be possibilities, it acts as if it can't grab enough water when I'm starting from a dead stop, but once I get it out of the hole she goes and doesn't have any problems.

The rpms don't drop back down. They will jump from 5 grand to 7 grand and stay there as if it's not grabbing enough water.

Thanks big e. Read up on rave valves and could be another possibility. I will have my local boat guy check it out. Since I bought it from him.

Wear Ring

I had the exact same thing, it was the wear ring. Mine had big chunks missing.

It's a fairly easy job, and parts are less than $50.00, you should do it yourself. There's an excellent thread about how to do it in the How To section of this forum.

Yup lou and Dr Honda I believe you're right, I have two big chunks missing out of my wear ring. How do I know what size to buy. Thanks.

Wear Ring

Check with SeaDooWarehouse.com, they are a sponcer of this site. They should have the part, it's a pretty common part. They will need model, year and maybe engine size.
