Are the stock sponsons riveted in also or are they bolted in? Not home to check

Got the sponsons installed WOW! What a Pita! At least the motor was out I couldn't image doing that install with a motor in there at one point I was half way in the compartment with my legs hanging out! I'm pretty happy with the look.

Thanks Matt! I plan on finishing the thread all the way up to they end so thanks for the support! It might take me another month or so depending on how busy I am at work but I'm definitely going to have it ready for summer.

Thought I would get rid of all the nasty coolant lines and hoses today I had some 5/16 id blue line laying around for the pump lines I plan on replacing all the lines with clear blue hose.

The water inlet hose will be replaced with this blue silicone hose I found on eBay I used this on my my speedster project and I really liked the look .

Great looking ski so far! I like how the colors tie into each other. Keep up the good work

Thanks! I was a little worried about all the color changes as I'm more mechanical than artistic but yep I'm happy so for should look a lot better as soon as I get the graphics put on. One good thing about the colors is that it will match up with my speedster.

Well while I'm waiting on parts to come in I decided to get some things done with the build,my crankshaft from pwc engine in New York will be here tues so I preped the bottom end first and tapped all the threads to clean out all the crud.
6.jpg

Then I lightly ran a finishing stone over the mating surfaces and cleaned everything up real good and blew both case halfs out with the compressor
7.jpg

Next I ran a die over all the bolts and threw them in the ultrasonic cleaner I was bored lol!

I ended up picking up some engine paint today and I decided to go with a black metallic
10.jpg

There isn't many colors that match purple so I thought that black would be a decent choice. I'm not painting the tuned pipe because it's in really good shape
11.jpg

Also I machined a few thousandths off the lettering on the top of the head should look pretty cool after paint just have to tape the letters off some how.
12.jpg

Can't wait to get my graphics in they will be here Monday so I will post a pic as soon as I get them installed I ended up going with the ripper package from pwc graphics

I ended up being able to use a really nice set of 657x jugs and head that I had in my hoard I took them to my shop and checked everything with a bore gauge they passed all tolerance checks so I'm a happy guy!
17.jpg

You can actually see the cross marks still I got them from a machine I parted out,the crank seals were leaking and they just had a new top end put on,score! I ordered a flex hone to deglazeI and got new wrist pins wrings and cir clips though.
18.jpg

So I just want to say that I'm so glad I bought a cir clip installer it kicks butt. I tested it out today on an old piston it works flawlessly
19.jpg
I have always struggled with cir clips so this will be a nice tool.

So next week will be a busy one I plan on getting the motor assembled leak tested and painted. Graphics will be put on jet pump is rebuilt, tested and filled with gear oil
20.jpg

The only thing I need to do is figure out how to tie in some green into the top graphic wise I was thinking maybe green xp decals on each side under the hood sides not sure my buddy says it needs some green on top to match up with the hull or it will look goofy any ideas? This is were the xp decal would go and a color sample
21.jpg
here is the hull color
22.jpg

I guess I could also just put on green registration letters/numbers also or just quit being lazy and paint the hull!!!!

Well we finally had some decent weather up here in Michigan so I was able to get some work done on the project. It's pretty sad when 40 degrees is considered nice out but my garage heater can't really keep up with 10 below temps so today was a good day to install the graphics. Overall I think they came out pretty good this was my first time doing the larger size decals but I had a buddy give me hand so it went smoothly. Here are some pics.

Big thanks to racerxxx for finding this sweet nos oem crank for me!
143.jpg
I got the bottom end sealed up with three bond and torqued to spec
144.jpg

just waiting for my top end to come back from full bore, I decided to save the 657x jugs and head for a back up motor for the speedster that I'm also working on so the stock 657 jugs and head will be used on this build. So hopefully next week I will get the motor finished, tested, timed and painted weather permitting!

Ther is a brand new oem impeller for this on ebay for $75 right now. Or best offer. I bet he would take $50

Thanks! But they oem impeller was mint it must have been recently reconditioned so I just put new seals and bearings in and used it to finish up the pump rebuild thank you for the heads up though. Actually that one you found might be a good backup I will check it out 50.00 would be a sweet deal!

had an issue with installing the pump I had a mounting tab crack but I had an extra pump laying around so I swapped out the wear ring and rebuilt it it sucked but I got it done in an afternoon
609.jpg
610.jpg

I think I must have had it on weird I test fit the new one a few times before bolting and everything looked good so I installed and torqed it down with no issues thank god what a pita!

Did a test start today I put some premix in the holes and gave it gohttps://vimeo.com/123565859

Im not sure if that sounds right but I haven't heard a two stroke motor since last summer Lol! If you guys can view this video feel free to tell me if it sounds bad.
I know I'm not really going to get good readings without a breakin but I did a compression test anyhow it came out a little high but I'm guessing it's from the premix I put in the holes prior to starting I ended up getting 160 per hole
