ive got a 93 xp that was cavitating last weekend and noticed that it is missing the boot on the front of impeller where it meets up with the drive shaft.could that cause my cavitation? thanks

Are you talking about the little rubber seal on the nose of the impeller? If so... that doesn't normally cause cavitation on it's own... but without it... you can't keep grease in the impeller, and you may rust the drive shaft to the impeller.

Your cavitation is probably from a bad wear ring, beat up impeller, or a leaking driveshaft seal.

Def could be a combination of the boot and the wear ring. Also, a worn impeller can cause cavitation.

Replace the first two and it should be resolved. All else fails, you need a new impeller or worse. (pump) Highly unlikely.
