Hey guys I know it has been a while since I have been on but I sold my old ski that I had. Anyway I bought a 93 xp two week ago. It was working fine. It has been sitting two weeks due to me cutting my hand open. I tried starting it yesterday and it won't stay running. I though it was a fuel issue so checked it and all was good. Upon messing around with it I found that if I hold the start button it will stay running and all works but keeps the starter engaged due to holding down the start button. If I let off the button it will die. I have talked to a buddy of mine that has some knowledge with them and he has no clue. I was thinking that maybe it could be in the starter soleniod, but not sure. Thinking maybe the solenoid is not carrying power over to the module to keep it running, but stays running with the button pushed because it is sending power there. Once again I have no idea though and really have no knowledge of these. I'm an automotive tech and do know my way around testing and working on things though. Any info would be greatly appreciated. I'm trying to have it going by sunday due to having a family get together. THNAKS!!!

Michael, Have you replaced the gray fuel lines and cleaned the carbs? Have you replaced the spark plug also? The starter solenoid is ok or it wouldn't allow the starter to enguage. It sounds like the engine isn't getting fuel, and cranking it over allows it to keep running on not much fuel. You might want to remove the spark plug caps and cut off 1/4" off the wire end. Re-attach the spark plug cap to to get a better spark.

Well I thought the same thing, but yes the blue lines have been replaced. I check the filter screen and carbs. I found that when you start it a let of the start button you can give it gas and makes no difference. So I thought fuel issue, but if you hold the start button down you can rev it up and it will stay running and do whatever you want it to, but as soon as you let go of the button it dies. So in seeing that you can rev it up and so forth with the button pushed, but not when you let of the button, I didn't see it being a fuel issue. Thanks for the help!

Is it possible that I could have an ignition module fault? I have been looking at wiring diagrams, but none of them list what they are. I don't know but this ski is really starting to tick me off!! Thanks guys!
