Well it's alive, installed the starter, new battery, new gas, checked the oil line for obstructions, pushed the start button and roared to life. Smoked a lot at first start up but cleared quickly.
I was very suprised for a motor that has not been run in 4 years it sounds strong... The next step is the ramp to check for any leaks is there anything in particular that I should be looking for? My thought was to back it in on the trailer just deep enough to fire it off and do some checking..

This is my first ski so i'm not knowledgeable with the jet drive and just asking questions on what to look for......

Thanks...
Butch

Put the rear of the hull in the water deep enough to cover the pump completely. Then, start it, and make sure you get water coming out the rear pee hole. Then let it idle for a couple minutes, and you should be able to touch the head shell, and the top of the pipe. they should be only slightly warm. Finally... if you don't see any water pouring unto the hull... go for a ride.

Last thing... since it was sitting for so long... I would add about 2oz/gal of oil to your main fuel tank. This will give a little extra lube to the old parts... plus it could save your engine if there is a problem with the oil injection.

Thanks Tony, I did not think about adding oil in gas, I had it running with the garden hose for around 5 minutes yesterday the head cover was only warm not hot at all, water appeared to be circulating ok also NO RUST exiting the exhaust, no hose leaks or seeping through the system but the exhaust seemed just a bit hot, maybe because of running off the hose on medium pressure? I will take it to the ramp and check everything this morning... Let you know how it goes...
