I just put new carbs in my boat ( 97 challenger with a single 787) and a new SBT motor. I was checking my jetting and found in the new carbs (super bn 40) a 140 mag main and a 142.5 main in the pto. I checked my old carbs that ran great with the exception that they flooded the engine when warm and they had 142.5 main mag side and a 145 main in the pto side.
So in the 787 the pto side main jet is supposed to be set richer?
The boat was going to 4500rpm like a rocket then on to 6500rpm but only for a second? then it would fall back to 4500rpm
Going to lake test it later tonight so I want to get the carbs main correct and will plug test when on the water. thanks

Flooding on a hot engine isn't from the jetting. It's normally from a leaky needle/seat or a plugged return. BUT..... it's sounding like you are a little lean. Did you check your pilot jets, and pop off also? A high pop-off will do the same thing.

Anyway... yes, they normal run differential jetting on the 800 and 951 engines. The thought is that the crank twist's a small amount, and at high RPM and high loads... you get a few more degrees of timing. The little extra fuel keeps the PTO jug cool, and keeps it from sticking the piston.
