Over the past couple months I had several problems with my boat. Mostly fuel and cavitation issues along with other problems. Id like to share a little bit of this and hopefully it helps someone with similar problems.

FYI before buying this boat I had very little knowledge about fuel systems or how a motor works internally. Now after months of work and rework I probably graduated to a general knowledge. (not an expert by any means).

THANK YOU Seedooya, Dr honda, and all the others who helped along the way!!!

I had several fuel issues; bogging, hesitating, stalling to name a few. With fresh fuel it may be just clogged filter that needs replacing. Otherwise your boat may have the gray fuel lines that are defective and need to replaced. Beyond that ,it may be time to open up your carb, check the filter inside the carb and clean it and the carb itself.

I had worked on my carbs several times before getting them right. Id look at them, a little unsure of what to look for, see a small prob, fix or clean that part and assume its fixed. But the reality was, it never truely worked until I took it competely apart and cleaned everything. And asked a bunch of questions along the way. I found bad gaskets, deposit buildups that needed to be scraped clean and it wasnt adjusted properly.

Cavitation; I had several issues in that department. My boat would not accelerate in the water (under load) as it would on the trailer. I had several posts 4k max rpms in water. Cavitation is caused by different things. Worn wear ring around impeller, defective impeller, and often air leaks around the jet pump. Probably other reasons too but those seem to be the most common. I had several things working against me. I tightened the rubber boot on my drive shaft (in engine bay) so it would sit tighter against my silver ring. Also i used some soap between carbon ring and silver ring to help clean for better contact. I also had an air leak where the intake grate cable went through the hull. I sealed that as well as I could. The cheap foam ring that everyone talks about was missing also. From the back of the boat ,I removed the jet pump to install one..

Collectively, my cavitation issues prob improved over 90%. I usually get to 7k rpms now but it occ. goes down a bit, to 6.5+.

These problems can seem to be very difficult for a novice, but with a little patience, it may not be that difficult.
