I just pulled my engine out for a rebuild. I purchased the boat used 3 years ago and have never had the engine apart. I don't know the history of the engine, other than it had a top end rebuild a year or so before I purchased the boat.

I pulled the jugs, but have not yet split the case. STD bore and STD Elko pistons, though I do have a bit of slop (like 0.008" sidewall clearance).

I was expecting cageless wrist pin bearings, but these were caged. Is that an exceptable alternative? There are no spacers between the rod and piston (the cage assembly is roughly the same width as the rod end). This makes for some generous side to side play. Any concerns with that?

I noticed the connecting rods say "Made in Japan" on one side and "PROX 05.551" on the other. Is this OEM or aftermarket?

Seals for the Rotary valve mechanism (on the crank); if I split the case, are these typically reusable? If not, do you need to dissassemble the crank to replace?

Any thoughts here greatly appreciated.
