Thanks for reading, I just purchased a running 717 from an HX to replace the 717 in my 1995 XP. My understanding is I will have to change the rotary valve from the XP 717 and put it in the HX 717, along with swapping the pto, and setting the timing on the rotary valve. Is there anything I am missing?

Your help is appreciated.
Steve

I was unaware about the different RV...I would think they are the same.

Pretty much swap the PTO (not usually an easy job...)

Thanks. After more reading, I have determined that it's just the PTO. The rotary valve is the same, I just
rechecked the timing with a degree wheel. I am hoping that, since the engine was rebuilt somewhat recently, that
the PTO will come off with a chain wrench.

Thanks

Maybe a little heat too...just be careful not to break an ear off of it. they are getting kind of rare.

Thanks. Hope you have time for some various questions.

1. Can you use hose clamps in place of oetiker clamps on driveshaft boot?
2. Do you recommend going to premix and recirculating the oil pump?
3. Is the jet pump a difficult rebuild? I have experience rebuilding various snowmobile engine assemblies.
4. Did you mean the HX PTOs are becoming rare?

Thanks friend.
Steve
