Hello All

I have a 717 that was damaged because the air filter vibrated loose and a bolt was ingested.

See the pictures attached.

My question is:

Will replacement of the valve and cleaning up of the surfaces be sufficient?

What would you recommend to maximize probability of success?

Thanks!

Leigh

At a minimum you will need a new or refurbished rotary cover.

If any of the grooves connect the two ports the cases are junk. I would suggest getting a good set of used cases from Westside Powersports Seadoo.

Only one bolt made it in. The other 5 fell out when we rolled the engine over. The missing bolt seems to have been turned in to shreds. It is evident in the bottom of the crank case. I expect that the bearings have been contaminated also. I am planing an extensive wash of the crank shaft and bearings. Cylinder sleeve valves seem ok...

If metal made it into the crank bearings they are shot and can't be washed out, the crankshaft is toast.
