I am going by the shop manual putting this thing back together..guess it's me caus I can't get what it's telling me about timing the rotary valve.
when the mag piston is tdc don't you just line up the edge of the rotary valve with the bottom of the mag intake port (in the port open position) and that's it?..manual says to use degree wheel and go 147 degrees from bottom of mag port, counter clockwise and make a mark, then go 65 degrees clockwise from top of mag port and make another mark..confused

have an imaginary line from center of rotary gear to outside lip of rv cover. That line must go right on top of the mag port hole, both top and bottom...those are your 0* markings. Then from top marking, go 65* down, and bottom marking, go 147* up....

...not sure why I'm not getting this....probably over thinking it.I made the marks,65* down from top of port and 147*up from bottom of port .since the valve plate opening is 147*The edges of the valve do not line up with both these marks.

Thanks a lot for the reply

not sure what ski were talking about, but sounds like if you got a 147* valve, then timing/degree needs to be at 130*/65*....but post your yr/mdl ski

The light bulb finaly came on.130* and 65* is where I should have been all along.

Thanks so much for your help and patience
