Hi guys and girls
I just bought this 1996 sea doo XP 580
And it has not been started in 3 years.
Got it running today and put it in the lake and it started over heating.
But it runs fine in the drive way

There is no such thing as a 1996 XP 580.

What is it doing that makes you think it’s overheating?

Check all the water lines and fittings for blockage, I found a couple blocked on one I'm redoing that sat for less than 2 years.,

Put the hose on and did that. But the batterie died so I hope to try her out tonight

Cooling system is running in reverse on the hose, check the pressure building area at the jet pump. You may have a wear ring out of spec (can't build pressure) or the path in that area is clogged. I found a path in the hull plate clogged when I removed the jet pump.

Remove and blow out every hose and as said before check the impeller and wear ring for damage.

Okay so on the hose I ran it for about 4 minutes and Water started coming out of the little hole just underneath the tie down hook.
So I think everything is starting to work next step is to water tested

Dose anyone know where I can get a steering cable for this 1992 xp
Are what. Newer seadoo will match up
