I rebuilt my super charger and in the instructions it says that on 2003 models with MY engine code and certain backplate, to install washers between engine and supercharger. I am assuming that the MY code would be the first two digits of the engine ID??
Thanks
Craig

Never heard of those instructions before. Where did you purchase the rebuild kit?

Purchased from a SeaDoo dealer. SeaDoo part number 420881150. I have attached a scan of the page from the instructions. Also the instructions mention not to cover the oil hole with grease, I do not have the oil hole is this something that was added on later models?
Thanks

Yes, most of the red scs need the 3 washer spacers, kind of a pain to put in unless you use some sticky grease to hold them in place.

Look for the stamping number on the back, if it ends in 3, you need the 3 washers.

yes, the oil hole added to later scs and is a subject for debate itself.

Is that second picture with the arrow not pointing at a stamped number on charger housing. You could use the base plate part number to determine this. Otherwise the Manufacture Year should be 03 in your case.

Wenier you are correct, I have a base plate ending in 163 that came off of my 2003 model, but it also says if that base plate is found on MY 2003 or MY 2004 engines, i looked at the engine tags and the engine was built in 2002, but the ski is a 2003 model, so do i go by the engine year model or ski year model?

Did you get that date from the engine tag or the skis ident number. From what you've found I would probably think you need to do the extra but you would be best to check with the dealer you got the kit from. Although built in 03 it was probably always going to be an 03 model ski.

2003 was the first year a Seadoo came with a supercharger so the 2002 tag is irrelevant as far as the supercharger is concerned
