What gives here?

She is a 96 XP...ran perfect all day....300 yards from the dock she just shut off. When i pulled the key and re-conected it, there was the normal 2 beeps...then 4 more beeps...and all 4 red lights are on. Nothing happens when you hit start/... (3 of them are normally on anyways...:ack:

SOOoo...the 4th light is an over-heat light....well, she didnt feel too warm...i check the shaft and the motor is not locked down...and even tho she has been out of the water for 3 hours now, still same beeps and the starter doesnt try to engage at all

Any seadoo experts know this one?

THanks,

Clean the lanyard post and dess cap. Its dirty and not communicating to the MPEM.
Use soapy water and leave it to dry.

Seriously...? you think it could be that simple?

MAN I HOPE SO !

will clean it now!

Thanks!

I see it a lot. Yes, soapy water. Don't use any grease of any thing else on the post or lanyard.

OK...i have cleaned both...and still no luck.

I do have another 96 xp key....and when I clicked it on there, same thing with the flashing red lghts.

Sooo......any other ideas... I am at a loss.\

I thought about switching the MPEMs from the other 96...but I am pretty positive she will just fire right up....which means for some reason the key is not reading on this MPEM....

anything other ideas I can do to diagnose, solve this little delima is much appreciated

Ok 96 XP that should have the dess,(digital Electronic Security System) I believe...If so swapping lanyards won't work as it has to be programmed to the mpem to work. It needs 2 beeps to be ready to fire up. 4 beeps tells you it isn't communiciating with the mpem to the DC-CDI Check the fuses in the electricial box and the connection from the MPEM and the DC-CDI box. It just might be a bad wire or a bad fuse causing the problem if the lanyard cap and post are clean.
