2016 Sea Doo RXT 300 supercharger Failure

Hello, just signed up on the forum. Have 2016 Sea Doo RXT300 RS, that had a supercharger failure at 148 hours. Shaft is broken, and impeller damaged. Wondering what could be the cause ? Oil is changed every 45 hours, and at 100 hours slip was checked. was at 13nm.

Have not seen any other recent SCs failures reported on the forum. BTW the “maintenance free” did not start until 2017, yours was under the every 100 hours or 2 years interval assuming you did not have it rebuilt previously.

have a Sea Doo factory manual and stating in 2016 the only maintenance is to check the slip. Check the Sea Doo parts website, it lists no spare parts for the 2016 300 supercharger.

Will do, going to do the rebuild myself. Used to be a A@P mechanic, figured If I can rebuild jet engines, should be able to rebuild a supercharger.

Replacement impeller arrived today. As you can see in the photos the ribs do not extend as far. This would be what I assume the gen 2.
Going with the WSM rebuild kit. I have used their kit for the 260 supercharger before, and had great results.

As you found out, the 2016-2018 300 sc are prone to failure. Later models are better but still not as good as they should be. Make sure you clean up your housing if it has any damage.

Have bead blasted both housings, going to paint them later today. Digital torque arrived yesterday, so ready to rebuild the unit.

Spent the day rebuilding the unit. Used a WSM rebuild kit. Have used their supercharger kits before, and some of their other parts , and have great results. Pretty straightforward on the rebuild. Double checked all the torque values, and after each step cleaned the parts with air.
Took a while to get the correct slip. back off the nut, tighten then, but over all not real difficult job.

What kinda cost involved? ..complete kit with everything?

Used the WSM kit, was 488 USD, plus about 50 USD for a used gen 2 turbine wheel or impeller. The kit had everything needed for the rebuild. I digital torque is must when adjusting the slip.
As I living in Thailand, would have been very costly is send the unit to the States for a rebuild.
