Let's get down to brass tacks about this ski.

Before she had the break-in 5 hours, it took all of 14 seconds, and then a few more tenths, to get to 60mph. 65mph came in at a sluggish 20 seconds. Check out the video I'm posting to see the difference!

She also sucked down fuel like crazy! As soon as I hit 5 hours, the ECU unlocked the last 1200RPM and this ski turned into a thing of passion! I also noticed a HUGE reduction in fuel burned.

I had become accustomed to 360's and 180's on the ski with less than five hours on it. So when it hit five hours, I did a fast 360 and powered out of my own water only to almost have my ass yanked off the thing. HUGE difference!

I'm now almost at 10 hours. One more hour and it's fully broken in. At that point, I will do ALL the shit I learned to do back in the early 90's!!

Here's the video of my ski right before hitting five hours!

I picked it up in Naples, Florida Motorsport. I might get 5 hours in on this nice long weekend! Definitely looking for people to ride with so I'll pm you soon.

dam, forgot about naples lol, 3 of us are likely doing the Peace River Saturday morning out of Harbor Heights boat ramp, you could knock out 3 hours there :)

Update:

I am now at 15 hours on the GTR. Even after hitting 10 hours, it has progressively gotten smoother and, seat of the pants only feeling, quicker.

With new cars, the first couple thousand miles always sees the engine breaking in better and power delivery becoming better, smoother and fuel mileage getting slightly better. The same is true of this Ski.

Yesterday, we spent about five hours at the lake. Since this is a brackish water lake located right off the Gulf of Mexico, we get some pretty choppy water due to the wind coming in. This Ski handles that chop quite well especially with the VTS being able to lighten the nose so I get across that chop better at higher speeds and forcing the nose down at lower speeds when I'm doing some hard turns.

I know some of this is just my being smoother on the throttle in Sport mode which comes through experience. But also, the power is much more linear. Perhaps the engine breaking in a bit more, the SC as well, and the ECU adapting, is the reason for this as well as my experience level.

This makes this GTR all the more enjoyable! However, I do have some scratches on the hull now from hitting something while on the Intercoastal waterway. I felt the hit, but never saw what it was. I was in the middle of the channel, so the water was 50'+. Likely a section of tree. Gonna hit it with some spray paint.

Had an awesome weekend on the ski. Hope you all did as well!
