Hey, so I was riding my 2014 rxpx 260 out yesterday for about 2 hours and on my way back to the ramp (cruising at 20-30mph) the engine suddenly lost power to about 15mph full throttle and was ticking bad. 10 seconds later started knocking heaving and within 5seconds it completely locked up. This engine is not seized it is mechanically locked. I suspect the connecting rod to be broken locking the engine. Checked the timing chain and spark plugs and they are good. From the rocker arm cover everything looks okay. I suspect a bottom end issue. Jet pump is also free. Please let me know what could lock up and engine like that. Supercharger is good too. Maybe it's the balance shaft or flywheel. Rod main bearing? List some ideas on this thread. Good it has warranty until 2019. Just dropped off at the seadoo dealer. BTW this ski has 167hrs with dealer maintenance done properly.

This is going to be interesting to follow. I was going to guess a bad IC and water on the pistons.... But,,, not the case based on your comments.

Water would cause it to hydro lock but I don't think this engine had water in it. A couple hours ago the motor mounts got shot and caused a misaligned engine and carbon ring allowing water in but I was near shore and only a little got in. Not enough for the engine to suck it up.

I was going with the thought process of the IC being bad and allowing water into the intake, which would then lock the engine up.

Also A good amount of metal shavings were found in the oil filter. Very small in size. Some aluminum and some gold looking shaving which I suspect crank bearings to be. Thank God for warranty.

Haha that would be nice. But the engine is locked isn't it? I cannot crank it over. Tried turning it over through the supercharger nut but no luck.

Ouch! I went thru this on one hr old new boat. Swamped at first 30 mins. Sat for a week. Rusted bearings. Wiped out cases. Self induced.

This look more like a thrust washer failure that caused the main bearing to fail. At one point the motor mounts failed and destroyed the carbon seal. Motor mounts and carbon seal were replaced under warranty for being defected. Also prop was loose. Everything was covered under warranty and that might have caused the thrust washer to fail.

The prop is loose? Typically itself tightens itself

The rxpx 260 is now broken in with 12 hours on the new long block engine. Running better than ever and I would like to thank seadoo for the fantastic warranty.
