2012 WakePro 215 Possible ECU Problem

So been having an intermittent problem with my ski where, usually after riding, we'd come back, unload then go to flush the ski. When I'd go to start it, the ski wouldn't recognize there was a key attached (no lights, nothing, just blank). Well, it finally stopped working for good recently.

I took it to the local repair guy and he's telling me it looks like it may be the ECU although he's still looking to see if there may just be an electronics problem. He's pretty good at what he does and is not known for trying to fleece people. Anyway, I'm preparing for the worst and trying to find an ECU online. Anyone know the part number for the 2012 ECU? When I search I keep coming up with 04-05. Maybe it's the same ECU?

Either that or, if anyone has any other suggestions, I'm open.

Thanks.

What kind of testing did the repair guy do to determine it might be the ECU? Based on your symptoms, BRP's test or troubleshooting procedure ends with ECU, it does not start with ECU.

Has anyone tested the DESS post since that's where your symptoms began to show? Or bad ground? Bad DESS symptoms can be just like a bad ground symptom since the start relay gets its ground through the DESS post.

Thanks. Yes, he suspected the post but it want that. I believe he's looking for a bad ground or anything else. He told me he feared the ECU after taking a look at it but that he would keep looking for another possible problem.

420666530 Can be found on any seadoo parts site and is used in most 215s from 2011-15 and definitely not the same as 04-05.

Does this person use BUDS or Can Doo? A lot of techs have good intentions but lack the experience on newer machines.

Does it wake up when you press the start button without the key on it?

Thanks. I don't know what he uses (BUDS or Can Doo). No, it does not wake up when you put the key on. Nothing happens at all.

Not when you put the key on. When you press the start button with the key NOT on. Does it do anything?

SO, not wanting to be that guy who asks for help with a problem but never posts what the solution was, here is what has transpired since I took my ski to my guy:

-As I mentioned before, initial though was it might be an ECU problem but he wanted time with the ski to see if it might be an electrical problem. I wasn't in a huge hurry so I agreed.
-Got a call from him a couple of weeks later and he said he found some wires that were corroded. He had replaced them, cleaned up some contacts, etc. It was running, I could com pick it up. Much lower cost to fix.
-I get to pick it up a couple of days later. As we're driving up, he's walking out of the garage shaking his head. No go again. Must be more wires. He needs more time.
-Heard from him about a week later saying he replaced more wires and it's been firing up for the past few days with no problems.

So, apparently, it's working. However, I believe I'm going to sell it. I had planned on keeping this for a couple of seasons and then, "upgrading," so, now that it's working very well, I figure it's a good time to sell it so as not to pass a headache onto some unsuspecting person.

I bought it used (4 years old) and it had sat outside in the sun a bit. Had to replace the seat cover. It had about 115 hours on it when I got it and I've put about 50 hours on it myself. I've had the supercharger rebuilt as well. So, it's in great shape.
