2011 Seadoo RXT IS 260 blown supercharger bearing (64 hrs.)

This just happened last weekend, dealer says the bearing let go. Ok they replaced the supercharger but they did not pull the engine to remove the 3 missing ball bearings from the oil screen. Does this seem right? They tell me Brp is fine with this as they are the ones directing the repair.

If it'd happened to me after the first 60hrs of my riding history..sure....the manufacturer says so...I'd be good with it. They're covering it...why not.

However...knowing what I know now?

Well....as I see it...you have a choice. Ride it till the warranty expires and trade it or sell it...or find someone to check those screens before you ride it again.

Show me a supercharger that has three balls missing from a bearing and I'll show you a supercharger that has some other small pieces missing also. They really need to go in and get ALL of that debris out. Bad, bad things are gonna happen.

I look at this way. If that SC bearing blew outside of warranty period and you limped in there they would not hesitate to tell you they had to pull the engine because there "could" be debris that "could" lead to complete rebuild. All that good news attached to estimate north of $2500 I'm sure. With 60 hours and being on their dime...I'd duke it out with BRP and tell them you buy it back and deal with the long term issues that could arise.

Get this thing fixed right or have them extend the warranty beyond the three years , with no questions asked, dealer maintenance provided so they don't have any wiggle room and point to some BS later in the life of this thing. Too much cash invested to be given that reply.

The dealer said that with the way the system is built now the debris would not get past the first of two screens. Personally I do not know the exact configuration of the intake system on this 2011 machine so I was not in a position to argue the point with the dealer. However I will contact BRP anonymously to question the procedure for a supercharger bearing failure.
